An Asian Elephant creature card with stats and rarity
The Dex: a grid of collected pixel-art creatures

Three steps to your first catch

No field guide needed — if you can photograph it, you can catch it.

  1. Scan

Spot an animal and frame it in the scanner. The duck at the pond counts. So does your dog.

  2. The finished card: an Asian Elephant with stats, a trait and its rarity

    Identify

dobudex works out the species and draws the card: pixel-art sprite, stats, trait, rarity.

  3. The Dex screen: a growing grid of caught pixel-art creatures

    Collect

The card lands in your Dex — and the real game starts: filling it.

Every catch becomes a card

This sea otter came from a real scan. Its card carries the species, six stats tuned to how the animal actually lives, a signature trait, a true biology fact — and the finder’s name.

It’s Rare — hardly anyone has caught one. Go on, give it a spin.

How rare is your catch?

Tiers come from the whole community’s scans: the fewer people have caught a species, the higher it sits.

  1. Common card: a grey Domestic Cat sitting in a meadow, in a grey frame Common

The pigeons. The gulls. Your cat.

  2. Uncommon card: a Six-banded Armadillo in a green frame Uncommon

A proper look around usually pays off.

  3. Rare card: an African Lion cub in a blue frame Rare

    Now you’re bragging.

  4. Very Rare card: a breaching Humpback Whale in a holographic purple frame Very Rare

Nobody believes you without the card.

Curious how it compares to Seek or Pokémon GO — or what else is printed on a card? The real-life Pokédex page tells the whole story, we’ve honestly compared all twelve apps in this space, and here’s what ten days of real scans turn into.
